What is the 2002 lava flow?

How cold is the Etna air at 1,500 metres?
Roughly 10–15°C lower than sea level. So in summer it’s ~18°C instead of 30°C. Bring a fleece or windbreaker even in July.
Is the lava cave scary?
No. The Grotta dei Ladroni is a short tunnel (low ceiling, cold, damp) that you walk through. It’s interesting but not claustrophobic. Good shoes help.
How long do we actually spend at the gorge?
